Thoughts on Burma

During the past few weeks of being here in Thailand and Burma and being directly involved in helping the Karen people who have been experiencing the ruthlessness and of a military regime for decades, it has been very eye-opening. Unfortunately, very few people are aware of the genocide and injustice that is happening in Burma. And those that are aware seem somewhat powerless to do much to change the situation because of the iron-fisted, totalitarian power that the Burmese Junta Regime wields.

How to Not Drink the Kool-Aid

Paul says to put on Christ, put on love, and don’t listen to wives’ tales, speculations, fables, and stories that don’t keep Christ at the center and acknowledge Him as the Head. I have to put this David Hogan quote in here, “Anything that impairs me from doing what we believe is the will of God is from the devil.” Paul vaccinates us for the religion virus, by telling us not to submit ourselves to rigid rules and legalism which has nothing to do with the freedom and gospel of Christ. “Do not touch, etc.” He admonishes us to stay connected to the Head, which will keep us from drifting off into la la land where we come up with weird revelations that have nothing to do with Him. Yes we DO need new revelation about God, but in a sense it’s not NEW because it’s revelation about a Person who’s already been revealed. The “new” revelation Paul is warning about is offshoots of esoteric knowledge that is supposedly for an elite few people. That kind of stuff is what sends people to a barn in Waco, TX following a leader who convinces them to drink Kool-Aid laced with poison.

Thoughts on David Hogan

David Hogan was here this weekend at Bethel. I'm still pretty much speechless about what I heard and experienced and witnessed through his life this weekend.

The Pope's Words Are Powerful

Tonight I typed in these words into Google to see what would come up: "I'm hungry for Jesus." Low and behold, one of the top sites that it found was a message from Pope Benedict that he gave last year at World Youth Day.

God of Restoration Who Is Mighty to Save

When God restores what has been stolen, eaten, devoured, and lost, it's always in such a way that He restores beyond what it was before.

I Want to Burn

I'm watching Todd cry out in Lakeland, FL for more fire, more presence, more boldness, more of God, and I am so aware of the complacency in my own heart.

When Does He Start and I Stop?

Holy Spirit has done a lot in my heart and spirit today as I've been spending time in His presence resting, worshipping, praying, and dreaming with Him about stuff.

Everything Has a First Time

Last night I had a Spirit-filled time with Bob and Trudy Porter, and listening to their stories of supernatural encounters with the Lord, open visions, angelic activity, redemption of God in major suffering, deliverance, and their stories of the power of God in their lives was amazing.

Soliloquy on Mr. Greenback

They talk about him as if he has his own personality; they chase after him as if he loves to be pursued, but yet oddly enough it seems that nobody ever gets enough of him. He comes up in conversation as this sneaky, elusive character who is so often the source of untold numbers of fights, quarrels, disputes, and wars.

Battling the Religious spirit

I think there are numerous ways to battle victoriously over the religious spirit...first of all when I am in worship in a public setting, and I feel restricted to not be as expressive or passionate or free as I would normally be by myself before the Lord, I believe that can be simply insecurities, but a lot of times it's the religious spirit.

I Want to Go to the Poor

I want to be with the poor...those who are hungry for Jesus...those who are starving to know this King. I feel kind of hypocritical in even writing this because I just have been afraid to take several God-given opportunities to minister to sick and homeless and prostitutes this past week.

Sowing, Reaping, and How It Affects Us

Yesterday Michael and I were in the streets taking some of the day to just intentionally make ourselves available to the Holy Spirit to use us in any way He so desired. We met Michel, another homeless man who's in misery...actually Fabrice introduced him to me, and told me we needed to talk to him.

Hungry for Open Heavens

I'm hungry for the heavens to open and for every restriction that would keep the Holy Spirit from being poured out on this city and all unbelief to be uprooted out of my heart. Fear, unbelief, and anxiety must go. They cannot coexist with the Holy Spirit of God.
