A team of 10 of us joined with about 10 others from Pan de Vida church to go to the hospital tonight. So much happened. Every week, a team from the church goes to the hospital to pray for patients and invite people to believe in Jesus.
It's an established ministry in the hospital, which is amazing because in America, that's rare for a hospital to allow you in like that unless you're a chaplain. They needed somebody to preach in the emergency room to invite people to receive Jesus, and Josh and a couple others encouraged me to do it, so I did. Sal translated for me, and there were about 50 people in the waiting room. I think most of them were family of people actually in the hospital. Man these Mexicans are so open and hungry for God. I shared a simple message, and announced that if anybody wanted to follow Jesus they could pray with me. I also said that if anybody needs healing in their body, we are available to pray for you and God will heal you.
A man came up to me named Alberto and looked kind of desperate. He invited us to go visit and pray for his mother who was in the hospital because of diabetes. So Leslie, Yelitza, another girl from Pan de Vida, and I went with Alberto back to the room. The hospital rooms there were like they are in Africa. About 8 or 10 people in a big room and there are just curtains separating the beds. Hardly any privacy, and quite primitive conditions.
We met Alberto's mom...her name was Enendina. She looked very sad and in lots of pain. We laid our hands on her and there was such a peace of God in the room. Tangible. We didn't really do a lot of praying honestly, just laid hands on her and released God's presence. A few minutes into it, Enendina started moving her right foot, toes, leg, and right arm. We didn't think anything of it until Alberto told us that she had been paralyzed in her right side of her body, and she couldn't do that before! Come on God, she got healed of paralysis!
Then she pulled her sheets back and showed us her left foot that was bandaged up. She said that it felt like ants were crawling all over her foot when we were praying! She had an ulcer on her left foot. That was her way of describing the presence of God touching her foot. All her pain left that foot.
I asked if her vision was affected by the diabetes. Yes, in her right eye. We prayed over that, and she got healed! Her vision cleared up. It all sounds too good to be true, but it really happened. So much love was in the air...true love of God for her. Enendina's face went from sullen and sad to joyful and happy!
She got saved, accepted Jesus as well!
I looked around the room and noticed that the other patients were looking at us curiously, and I could sense that they wanted us to pray for them too. So we did. The nurses didn't mind a bit that we were there. In fact we felt welcome. What a contrast from America.
Leslie and the other girls went to the lady next to Enendina to pray for her...she had just had a hysterectomy. I decided to let them do that, and I went to talk to Alberto, Enendina's son. Come to find out, he had pain in his kidneys. I got to pray for him, and Jesus took away all his pain! He was dumbfounded...he was feeling around for the pain but it was gone!
Of course, Alberto ended up getting right with God too...recommitted his life to Jesus.
The next lady we went to was suffering from kidney pain too. So we decided to ask Alberto to come over and pray for her since he JUST got healed of that. But Alberto said he didn't know how to pray. We told him it doesn't matter...just pray from your heart. So he did. This lady's name was Marisol. We believe she got healed, but she was on pain medication so it's hard to tell for sure. But she did experience the presence of God and she also recommitted her life to the Lord!
Then we went to another lady to pray for her. Her name was Analberta. She had a blood clot in her left foot area. When we prayed for her and asked how she was feeling, she said she felt "fun" inside! The joy of Holy Spirit filled her.
